Prof Tim Senden

Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Infrastructure and Entities)

Physicist and physical chemist with deep expertise in nanoscale surface phenomena and advanced imaging techniques. Leads strategic development of research infrastructure and entities across the university, following a decade of leadership at the Research School of Physics. Holds a BSc(Hons) and PhD from ANU, with early research focused on Atomic Force Microscopy and nanomechanical measurements of molecular systems. Has since expanded into 3D micro-X-ray tomography and the study of porous and granular materials. Known for fostering cross-sector partnerships in areas such as nuclear stewardship and responsible technology development, including landmark collaborations with Rio Tinto. Brings over 30 years of experience at ANU driving research with industrial relevance and national impact.
