Associate Professor of Geochemistry and Petrology in the School of Geosciences at the University of the Witwatersrand. Since 2024, he has also served as the Head of School. Grant earned his PhD from Wits in 2013 and was a Predoctoral Fellow at the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism at the Carnegie Institution for Science (2011–2012). His research leverages various tools from the geochemical toolbox, particularly radiogenic and stable isotopes, to investigate solid Earth processes, crustal evolution, and the metallogenesis of ore deposits. As Head of School, he is especially passionate about advocating for the significant societal value of geosciences and ensuring sustainability in the mining and metals economy in southern Africa, both of which ultimately play a important role in promoting a just, green transition in Africa.
